The Bushmaster ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) is the most advanced modular Combat/Assault rifle ever devised. Originally developed by Magpul Military Industries as the Masada Adaptive Combat Weapon System, the Bushmaster ACR is on the cutting edge of weapon design.  Initially chambered in 556 NATO the modular construction and tool-less quick change free-floating barrel system( utilizing M16/M4/AR15 barrels) allow for future caliber and barrel length combinations to meet the operators every need.  The Modularity of the Bushmaster ACR means that the old axiom of "right tool for the job" is no longer applicable.  With a variety of stock and barrel combinations available the Bushmaster ACR is adaptable to meet any combination of mission specific requirements from an Entry/ CQB (Close Quarters Battle) carbine, standard infantry carbine/rifle to a SPR (Special Purpose Rifle) for longer range engagements.

The upper receiver on the Bushmaster ACR is made from extruded aluminum.  The full length uninterrupted Picatinny rail with integral Flip-UP Front Sight  on the Bushmaster ACR  allows for compatibility with any rear BUIS (Back-up Iron Sight)available. The Bushmaster ACR is able to host any type optical system including but not limited to Agog, Aimpoint, Eotech, Reflex, C-MORE, Leupold and others.   The Bushmaster ACR can be configured with a collapsible/folding stock, short barrel and a close quarters optic for maneuvering in tight areas or in matter of minutes reconfigured with an adjustable sniper stock, longer barrel and a long range scope when accuracy from a distance is required.

The Bushmaster ACR utilizes a  piston-driven adjustable  gas system to cycle the bolt greatly reducing the amount of heat and fouling that enter the action prolonging the ACR's service life  and decreasing the chance of a malfunction during extended use in hostile environments.  The Bushmaster ACR's modular lower receiver is designed to accept STANAG (Standard NATO Agreement) magazines like those used in the M16/AR15 series rifles from Bushmaster, Colt, Armalite and others.  In addition it will also accept the Magpul Industries P-MAG, a 30rd Polymer magazine that is near destruction proof and utterly reliable under the harshest conditions.

The Bushmaster ACR controls are 100% ambidextrous and allow for the weapon to be utilized by right or left-handed shooter with zero modifications to the rifle.  The charging handle is located alongside the barrel for ease of operation without having to break sight picture/alignment with the target.  Both the bolt release/hold open and the magazine release on the Bushmaster ACR are ambidextrous and can easily be manipulated by  the trigger finger while the ambidextrous safety selector is controlled by the thumb like on the M16/AR15 series assault rifles. The ACR's non-reciprocating charging handle can be engaged to act as a forward assist. The Bushmaster ACR uses a drop-in trigger pack containing standard AR15/M16 components as the ACR will be available in both Military/Select-Fire and Civilian Semi-Auto configurations.  The extensive use of polymer in the design of the Bushmaster ACR helps keep weight to a minimal while offering a durable flexibility not afforded by other conventional materials.  Also using polymer in the ACR allowed various storage compartments like the one in the grip that accepts a variety of "cores" for carrying either 2 -AA, 2-CR123A batteries, spare Bolt and Firing Pin or 3 spare rounds.

The Bushmaster ACR has 3 different stock designs each with a specific mission in mind.  The first is a collapsible that also folds forward for storage or use in extremely confined spaces and includes an adjustable cheek piece. The second is a non-folding style with adjustable cheek piece along with increased strength for butt striking and more storage space. The third ACR stock is a sniper specific design with incorporates 1.3" of fine adjustment for LOP(length of pull) and 1.8" of cheek weld. Various accessories are also available like swivel mounts, a mono-pod and a steel-toe strike-plate.
Handguards for the Bushmaster ACR are available in carbine and rifle length and have slots for mounting rails for attaching lights, laser, VFG's and other accessories the situation requires.  Bushmaster also offers a metal railed forend  for the ACR.
